One reader wrote THE BUZZ, “Why do police do 30-day vehicle tows? I know they tow and impound for 30 days but what are some of the reasons?”
Sac PD patrol Capt. Hahn responds, “Cars can be towed for 30 days for a couple of reasons:
“14602.6 of the California Vehicle Code enables officers to tow a car for 30 days if the driver has a suspended drivers license or has never been issued a drivers license. (This is the most common).
“23109.2 of the California Vehicle Code enables officers to tow a car for 30 days if the driver is engaged in a speed contest.”
Thanks, Capt. Hahn!
Yes, thanks for the response. I love this blog. It’s so much more responsive than depending on the Bee for information about our area.
