Former Heron School student, Mireya Brambila Hernandez, and family were driving in Mexico, visiting family, when their car swerved to avoid something on the road and rolled over several times, killing the child.
The five others in the vehicle survived, but were seriously injured. The Natomas family had to wait three hours for emergency vehicles to arrive and some were airlifted to El Paso. Those that did not need to be airlifted waited seven hours for additional help.
Prior to the accident, Mireya’s family had just gotten word that they had lost their home to foreclosure. The family has held car washes and raised some money, but whatever people can do to help out this truly humble and wonderful family I know would go a long way.
A fund has been set up for Mireya at Wells Fargo Bank, account #7734163459. She was a sweet, shy little girl who always had a smile on her face.
