First, Elk Grove’s transit system proposes fare hikes that would, in some cases, double the cost of transportation for seniors already on limited incomes.
Now, the county has plans to cut funding for senior programs at Stanford Settlement here in Natomas. The program, which already operates on a shoestring budget, offers transportation, meals and socialization for a small fee to seniors who would otherwise not be able to afford these services.
