* Residential burglaries went up 31% (19 to 25). This number has gone up the past two months. Several burglars were caught in mid-April which will hopefully help to bring this number down in May. But, Capt. Hahn says area residents must remain vigilant and call in suspicious activity and Sac PD officers need to continue follow up on these cases.
* Vehicle burglaries went up 38% (26 to 36). There were 42 vehicle burglaries in April of 2007. This is a trend being seen throughout the area. Sac PD has been putting out bait cars in an effort to get this number down. Another good reminder to call in all suspicious activity.
* Robberies (unspecified) went down drastically (6 to 0). This is a good sign after what we saw last year. Robberies have gone down or stayed even every month this year.

* Residential burglaries went up 120% (10 to 22). There were 20 in April of 2007. This is partially due to the burglars Sac PD arrested who committed several burglaries in about an hour on one day. The other thing impacting this is the recent garage door burglaries in our apartment/condo complexes recently in Natomas.
* Vehicle burglaries went down 28% (32 to 23). This has gone down or stayed even every month this year. In April 2007 there were 28.
* Stolen cars went up 55% (9 to 14). This is the only area in Natomas that saw an increase in stolen cars. Sac PD placed “bait” cars in Natomas as a response to this recent trend. No takers so far on the “bait” cars.
* Robberies (unspecified) went down 40% (5 to 3). Another good sign after what the neighborhood experienced last year. All three violent crime categories (Assault with a gun and Assault w/out a gun) went down this month.

* Residential burglaries went down 58% (12 to 5). This number has gone down every month this year – GREAT JOB!
* Business burglaries and vehicle burglaries both went down (60% and 46% respectively).
* Stolen cars went down 38% (13 to 8).
* Robberies (unspecified) went down 60% (5 to 2). There were six in April 2007.
* Assaults w/out firearms went up from 0 to 4.

“Our goal is to get every one of these categories to go down this year and make our neighborhoods that much safer,” says Capt. Hahn. “Sharing information, calling in suspicious activity, knowing your neighbors, and working together is the only way this will happen. And it WILL happen.”
