Heard In Natomas: Purses Snatched At Raley’s

A loyal NATOMAS BUZZ reader contacted us this evening to let us know about two purse snatchings in as many days this past weekend at Raley’s on Natomas Boulevard.

K.C. tells us the first incident occurred INSIDE the grocery store on Friday afternoon and again the following day.

The thieves loitered around the produce section and then snatched K.C.’s purse from her cart, ran on foot out of the store and down the sidewalk to a waiting car in the Pick Up Stix back parking lot. A second purse was snatched on Saturday after which a foot chase ensued and a license plate number apparently recorded.

“The odds of me or the other victim getting anything back is very remote,” writes K.C. “I want to get you the heads up so that you can alert our neighbors so that there’s isn’t a third victim.”

Or more, for that matter.

Sacramento man arrested after attack on his tenant
    From Chelsea Phua

Sacramento police say they arrested a 49-year-old Natomas man on suspicion of attempted murder of his tenant.

Sgt. Norm Leong said Stephen Phelps, who has been renting his Meadowview house to a woman in her 20s for a month, struck her in the head with a hammer shortly before 9:15 p.m. Friday.

She was hospitalized in stable condition on Friday night, Leong said.

For unknown reasons, Phelps went to the house in the 7300 block of Amherst Street to shut off the power, Leong said. When the tenant came out, she saw Phelps at the side of the house turning off the power. Leong said the landlord attacked her when she confronted him.

Phelps was arrested without incident at his home in the 5000 block of Archcrest Way and booked into Sacramento County jail early Saturday morning.
