A diesel tanker truck caught fire at 6:39 p.m. this evening on South Bound Interstate 5 near Interstate 80.
Sacramento Firefighters arrived in 7 minutes and found a dual tanker truck with heavy fire on the exterior of one of the tanks, near the real axle. Firefighters immediately called for more resources and quickly attacked the fire and were able to prevent the fire from burning the tanks and the fuel inside.
The tanker is owned by Ramos Oil Company and it was en route back to their yard when it caught fire. Both tanks were near empty and they had only a residual amount of diesel fuel in them. Sacramento Fire Department Haz Mat crews also responded.
There were no reported injuries. The California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Haz Mat, and the West Sacramento Fire Department also responded
