The events of Sept. 11, 2001 inspired Americans to come together in a remarkable spirit of unity and compassion. Eight years later, this date continues to evoke strong emotion and is an homage to sacrifice and a call to action.
Natomas residents are invited to join the City of Sacramento Neighborhood Services Department and Hands On Sacramento for a morning of volunteerism to commemorate the first Sept. 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. Community members throughout the region will be coming together to support neighborhood clean-ups and beautification projects.
This event is a part of the larger, nationwide United We Serve initiative and the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. Over 200 volunteers are needed to make this day happen. Click here to sign up.
A commemorative ceremony is planned for Noon at at Northgate Park (2825 Mendell Way). Consider attending the ceremony, even if you are unable to make the volunteer service opportunity that morning.
