The detention basins located in Natomas and throughout the city are used to collect excess rainwater during storm events.
City staff regularly monitors these basins and their levels to ensure that they are functioning properly. Staff also monitors creek and stream and river levels to help ensure the safety of our residents.
Extra crews have been called in to help drainage and sewer crews with an anticipated increase in calls for assistance with street flooding.
Residents in Natomas who see street flooding are encouraged to call 3-1-1 and report the location so a crew can be dispatched to the scene.
