The North Natomas Transportation Management Association is charged with cycling and the existing bike trail system in North Natomas has potential for expansion to better serve the area’s 35,000 residents.
The NNTMA has examined bikeways in the North Natomas neighborhoods and identified numerous obstacles which create safety hazards, restrict pleasure rides and obstruct commuters during their cycling experience.
These hurdles are being addressed through a planning and financial partnership between the City of Sacramento and the NNTMA. Seventeen bike infrastructure projects have been targeted for change within the next year to help cyclists get around with more ease, including several curb alterations and median cuts are planned at various locations.
To add to this overall project, the NNTMA’s advocacy with the city includes planned completion of the California Family Fitness trail south to Airport Road. Also, the San Juan Road Overcrossing will be re-striped to accommodate bike lanes, and the bike path behind the Tuscaro Apartments, east of Natomas Boulevard, will be re-surfaced.
This is fantastic. Great job to those who are making this happen.
