Friends of the Library funded the addition of an art mural to the South Natomas Library community room.
Local mural artist Katy Hardeay was hired to oversee the project and high schools were contacted to see if students might be interested in participating. Four high school students worked with Hardeay, pictured here with library staff member Teresa Canady, who helped coordinate the effort.
The art team designed the mural to reflect the flora, fauna and people indigenous to Natomas. Painting started in January and the mural – called REMEMBER – was completed in April. The mural was unveiled earlier this month, on June 5, during a special reception.
