Natomas Charter School senior Daric Carvajal is organizing “Love HEALS: Hope, Enlightenment & Love for Simrit” benefit 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. THIS SATURDAY at Heron School, 5151 Banfield Drive, in Natomas.
Simrit is a 6-year-old kindergarten student at Heron who has an illness called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). A child with EB has painful wounds similar to burns covering most their body. Unlike burns these wounds never go away. Children with EB are often referred to as “Butterfly Children” because their skin is as fragile as a butterfly’s wings.
“Simrit is my hero,” says Carvajal. “Her strength and drive are amazing. Despite her condition, she is a happy, optimistic and an energetic little girl.”
“Love HEALS” will feature singing and dance performances by Natomas Charter School students and others who reside in the Natomas community. Tax-deductible donations payable to Debra of America will help fund research, education and treatment for Simrit and other families.
For more information, call Carvajal at (916) 928-0388.
