City officials are considering an ordinance that would allow a
community garden on undeveloped private property.
A community garden is defined as an otherwise undeveloped lot divided into multiple plots for the growing and harvesting of food crops or nonfood crops for personal use of the growers.
An informational meeting to review the proposed
ordinance is being held 6:30 p.m. May 9 at the South Natomas Community Center, 2921 Truxel Road.
The proposed ordinance is scheduled for review by
the Planning Commission 5:30 p.m. May 12 at Historic City Hall, 915 I Street, Second Floor. The report and ordinance are available on-line here.
The city council will review the ordinance in June.
