Sacramento police have arrested Chema Strawther in connection with a weekend shooting in Natomas.
Early Saturday, officers responded to a call in the area of Northgate Boulevard and Highway 160 and found Ahmed Ishaque, 37, had been shot. Medics transported Ishaque to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives believe that Strawther shot Ishaque and then drove the victim’s car to the Water Treatment Inlet located at 502 Jibboom Street at about 5:20 a.m. The vehicle is the a silver 1990 Chevy Lumina (pictured).
Police would like to talk a man they believe encountered Strawther that morning. The unidentified man was driving a dark-colored Chevy Tahoe type vehicle, accompanied by his elementary school-aged son, when he parked on the driver’s side of Ishaque’s car near the water treatment facility. The man spoke with Strawther prior to leaving the area.
Yesterday, at 5:40 p.m., officers located Strawther without incident at a residence on the 2600 block of Truxel Road. Strawther was arrested on suspicion of murder. Due to the ongoing investigation, his booking photo is not being released.
