Inderkum High School in Natomas earned the most improved score from the prior year at the 32nd annual Sacramento County Academic Decathlon competition.
Bella Vista High School, from the San Juan Unified School District, won the competition and will advance to the state finals next month it was announced last night, Feb. 8 by Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon at an awards banquet.
Twenty-five Sacramento County high schools sent teams to compete Feb. 4 in written and oral exams held at Inderkum High School.
Students competed for awards in 10 demanding academic events: Mathematics, Art, Music, Language/Literature, Economics, Science, Essay, Speech, Interview and Super Quiz. Students received gold, silver or bronze medals for their efforts.
Folsom High School placed second, followed by Del Campo High School, Pleasant Grove High School, and Monterey Trail High School. Inderkum placed 6th overall out of the 25 competing schools.
