Inderkum To Host Casey’s Pledge Activity

THE NATOMAS BUZZ | @natomasbuzz

Inderkum High School’s chapter of “Friday Night Live” will be promoting Casey’s Pledge the week of April 16 to advocate sobriety and showcase the dangers associated with drinking and driving.

The event will be designed to promote the awareness of underage drunk driving and the negative effects of alcohol use to students of Inderkum High and the Natomas community.

Casey’s Pledge is named in honor of Casey Goodwin, a young and enthusiastic “Friday Night Live” advocate for a life free of drugs and alcohol.

In March 2003, as Casey was driving home from college in San Luis Obispo to celebrate her mom’s birthday, she was in a devastating automobile collision that took her life.

The driver of the other car was an underage drunk driver. Casey’s family and friends created Casey’s Pledge as a way to honor Casey’s devotion and commitment to the cause of reducing drunk driving incidents and related dangers.

Students will be able to sign a large Casey’s Pledge poster during lunch on the week of April 16 in order to signify their promise to avoid drugs, alcohol, and other harmful substances. In return, students will receive a commemorative wristband to wear before and during the week of prom.

The signed poster will then be displayed at Inderkum from April 23 to May 4.
