University of Phoenix Hosts Town Hall

Event designed to foster
community safety conversation

On Friday, April 27, the University of Phoenix Sacramento Campus will host a free criminal justice and security open house for students, alumni and the public.
 
The event will feature a town hall style discussion 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. about secure communities.

“University of Phoenix College of Criminal Justice and Security educates our future leaders in every aspect of organizational security,” said Scott Lewis, University of Phoenix Sacramento Campus Director. “This event is a unique opportunity for our students, alumni and community members to engage in an important dialogue.”

The discussion will be moderated by Steven Campas, University of Phoenix College of Criminal Justice and Security Sacramento Campus College Chair. Campas served for 29 years with the Sacramento Police Department, achieving the rank of lieutenant. He has led specialized units including SWAT, Canine, Parole Intervention, Major Crimes and Gangs.

Panel members will include:

  • John McGinness, former Sheriff, Sacramento County
  • Ed Prieto, Sheriff, Yolo County
  • Richard Word, Chief of Police, Vacaville Police Department
  • Jon Gurule, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Kevin J. Fandl, Immigration and Customs Enforcement

The University of Phoenix Sacramento Campus is located at 2860 Gateway Oaks Drive, in Natomas.
