While the Summer Oasis summer programs at both Regency Park and the South Natomas Community Center are full, another program is available to help keep kids occupied this summer.
The Summer of Fun program at Garden Valley Elementary School off Northgate operates during the the same time frame and has spots available.
Operated by Sacramento START, the program is set up for 1st thru 6th graders, ages 6 years to 12 years old. Summer of Fun provides multiple activities including arts and crafts, physical fitness, science, dance, performing and visual arts, and swim days. Lunch is provided Monday through Thursday; students must bring their own lunch on Fridays as well as the week of July 16-20.
The Summer of Fun program operates 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays starting June 11 to July 27.
To register, contact the Sacramento START administrative office at (916) 808-6197 or visit the city Department of Parks and Recreation online registration site (click on After School Programs & Day Camps).
