Sacramento Police K9 “officer” Bodie visited children at the Oasis summer day camp this morning, June 18 at Regency Park in Natomas.
Bodie, shot in the line of duty by a suspect in May, visited the campers as part of Public Safety Day.
Youngsters were told how Bodie got shot and were given general safety tips.
“I think it’s a real good story,” said James Tavita, 11, who hopes Bodie recovers from his injuries.
Children were given the chance to pet Bodie and received a police sticker badge.
“It was fun,” 8-year-old Max Bohm said about petting Bodie.
More than 100 youngsters are enrolled in the Oasis program, hosted by Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby. Ashby attended today’s event.
