Creekside Couple Apparent Murder-Suicide Victims

Sacramento police are investigating the deaths of a couple found in their Natomas home yesterday morning as a murder-suicide.

The Sacramento Coroner’s Dept. today identified the pair who shared a home in the Creekside neighborhood as Luv Land, 28, and Edward Coleman, 36. Coleman worked as an assistant football and track and field coach at Grant High School.

Homicide is listed as the cause of death for Land; at press time a cause of death had not yet been listed for Coleman.

The two died of apparent gunshot wounds and officers found a gun nearby when their bodies were first discovered. Police spokesperson Michele Gigante said the investigation is ongoing.

The Twin River Unified School District issued the following statement regarding Coleman’s death:

“The district received news of the passing of Twin Rivers Unified School District employee, Mr. Edward Coleman. Mr. Coleman served as a paraeducator at Rio Linda High School and as an assistant coach in football and track and field at Grant Union High School. Mr. Coleman was known for being a positive influence among the school communities of Rio Linda High School and Grant High School.”

“The well-being of staff and students is our district’s highest priority and steps have been taken to address the welfare of our students, and staff. Chaplains, counselors, and district personnel are available and helping those who need support. They will be available throughout the week.”

“Our sympathies go out to the family members and others who have been affected by this tragedy.”
