A voluntary lockdown at Natomas High School has been lifted.
At about 2:08 p.m. the Sacramento Police Department received a call of shots fired at an apartment complex on the 3200 block of Truxel Road, across the street from the school.
According to police spokesperson Michele Gigante, school officials’ decision to lock down the campus was voluntary. Natomas High school is located at 3301 Fong Ranch Road.
“It was a smart move on the part of the school,” Gigante said.
The campus was closed to all foot and car traffic, including sports buses, while Sacramento police officers investigated an incident nearby. No victims or suspects were found, Gigante said.
The “code blue” was cleared at about 2:35 p.m. and the lockdown lifted and an automated message telephoned to Natomas High families about the incident shortly thereafter.
“The students and staff acted just as they should have and should be commended for their excellent work,” Principal John Eick said.
