Natomas Teacher Placed On Leave For Alleged Relationship With Student

An Inderkum High School teacher who allegedly had a relationship with a student has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Sources tell THE NATOMAS BUZZ the female teacher was having an inappropriate relationship with a male student.

In an automated telephone message to parents, Inderkum principal George Tapanes said the Sacramento Police Dept. and Natomas Unified School District are investigating the alleged relationship.

Police spokesperson Michele Gigante confirmed an allegation of an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher was reported on Sept. 12.

“No criminal charges have been filed and due to the ongoing investigation no further details can be released at this time,” Gigante said.

Tapanes’ message said additional counseling support is available for students and staff through the school’s office.

“We take these types of allegations very seriously,” he said.

A statement released by Superintendent Chris Evans said questions about the alleged relationship should be directed to his office. Evans would neither confirm nor deny the teacher’s identity to THE NATOMAS BUZZ.

“Inderkum High School is committed to providing a safe, quality education for all our students,” Tapanes said. “This is an investigation and should further developments occur, we will keep you posted.”
