Foothill High principal Joseph Williams was named the new interim superintendent of the Twin Rivers Unified School District at tonight’s school board meeting.
Williams will act as interim superintendent for the remainder of the 2012-13 school year while the school board works with a search firm to select a permanent superintendent. Former superintendent Frank Porter announced his retirement in April.
Williams has worked for the district since July 2011 when he was hired to as principal at Foothill High.
Prior to working for Twin Rivers, Williams held the interim dean of students post at American Canyon High School in the Napa Valley Unified School District. He has also worked as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction with Campbell Union High School District in San Jose, and director of secondary education with San Rafael City Schools.
At a state level, Williams has served as assistant director of assessment and as a federal programs supervisor for Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. His career includes a lengthy military record; he most recently served as Lieutenant Colonel for the United States Army Reserves.
One of the first tasks for Williams as interim superintendent will be selection of an interim principal for Foothill High School.
