The Tri-County Conference this morning overturned a one-game suspension of Inderkum head football coach Terry Stark.
Stark was ejected from a TCC game Friday, Oct. 12 at Woodland High School with less than a minute left in regulation play. Inderkum beat Woodland 26-7.
In a written statement from TCC commissioner Ray Gutierrez, the conference stated a bylaws appeal made by Inderkum Principal George Tapanes requested the suspension be overturned.
According to the written statement from the TCC, a “review of the material presented and discussion, the committee, by unanimous vote, voted to grant the Inderkum High School the appeal.”
Gutierrez declined to comment on the decision when contacted by THE NATOMAS BUZZ Tuesday afternoon.
The written statement also noted “the officials report was not specific enough and needed more detailed information to warrant action taken regarding the ejection.”
According to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section constitution and bylaws article 302.4: “Any head or assistant coach ejected from a contest will be disqualified from participating in the remainder of that game and will be prohibited from coaching or attending the next interscholastic contest for that team.”
The bylaws also note any ejection can be appealed through the league for that particular school.
Today’s decision to overturn Stark’s suspension allows him to coach the Inderkum Tigers 7 p.m. this Friday night at home against River Valley.
