For the very first time this morning, Natomas High School raised its brand-new WASC flag.

The flag does not represent a nation or state, but the six-year accreditation awarded to the school earlier this year by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Western Association of Schools and Colleges studies a school’s performance and awards one-year, three-year, or six-year accreditation.

Natomas High School received its six-year accreditation in May 2012 – the first in the school’s history and the only school in the Natomas-area to receive such a high accreditation.

“[WASC] shows that our staff not only has an education plan, but also has concrete ideas to move forward,”Natomas High School Vice Principal Mark Huddleston said. “Our motto is to move forward as a school,”

Going forward, the WASC flag will be risen daily in front of Natomas High School as a symbol of the school’s pride, achievements, and success.
