Having a player score 20 consecutive points can be both a blessing and a curse.

Terrence White led the Inderkum boys basketball team with 29 points Thursday night including 20 in-a-row during the second half of the Cordova Christmas Classic first-round game.

But it wasn’t enough to win. The Tigers lost 67-57 to St.Patrick/St. Vincent High.

After the Bruins took a seven-point lead midway through the third quarter, White scored the final 10 points of the quarter forInderkum (8-4) to get the Tigers within one at 45-44.

That was the blessing.

And that curse? Well, that was the fourth quarter for Inderkum.

Outscored 22-13 in the final quarter, the rest of the team looked as if they were spectators to the “Terrence White Show” instead of participating in it.

“We got caught watching,” Inderkum head coach Rodney Haymer said. “That’s something we have to correct. We can’t win playing that way.”

White was the lone Tiger to score in double figures. Andrew Ignont and LD Dhaliwal both scored seven points for Inderkum.

Jordan Hickman led the Bruins with 27 points and Jalen Canty chipped in with 17.

Inderkum plays McClatchy at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 28 in the Cordova Christmas Classic consolation bracket.

Natomas High boys basketball: Despite playing against a five-star recruit in junior Malik Pope, the Natomas boys basketball team battled throughout the game in a 67-56 loss to Laguna Creek in the first round of the 6th Annual Whitney Winter Classic in Rocklin. Pope is a lanky, 6-foot, 7-inch forward that can score from the perimeter and drive effortlessly to the basket. But the Nighthawks (0-10) were able to contain the ball away from Pope enough to make the game interesting. Jamey Morgan led the Nighthawks with 14 points and Jalen Manning chipped in with 12 points in the loss. The Nighthawks will play Center at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the consolation bracket.

Inderkum girls basketball: The Tigers beat host Dixon 57-52 in the first round of the Dixon Ram Jam Winter Classic. Sakara Brewer led the Tigers with 21 points. Inderkum (8-6) will play American Canyon at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in Dixon.

Natomas High girls basketball: The Nighthawks lost to Foothill 60-42 at home Thursday night. Ashley Davis led Natomas with 17 points and Halle Hamre scored 16. Hayley Polk led the junior varsity team with 37 points in a 47-45 win over Foothill earlier in the evening.
