Merryhill Milcreek students Grant Shoultz and Alexander Troutt recently collected new and gently used sports equipment for the Salvation Army Ray Robinson Oak Park Community Center.

Shoultz and Troutt asked state workers, Natomas neighbors, their school community and the Sacramento Kings to help out. The drive ran March 11-22.

The boys collected and delivered enough toys to fill a full-size van and an SUV on March 22.

Collected items included balls, gloves, bats, cleats, helmets, used books, school supplies, games and more. The Sacramento Kings provided 18 balls, gatorade coolers, a ball rack.

The Ray Robinson Oak Park Community Center serves about 1,000 youngsters a month.
