The annual 24-hour Relay For Life of Natomas fundraiser for the American Cancer Society kicked off at 9 a.m. this morning at the Natomas High School track.
To date, 45 teams and 441 participants have raised $39,797.92. Leading fundraisers include individuals Susan Wells, Manuel Hernandez and Wayne Watt; teams Heritage Park, Roni’s Racers and 2 Inspired 2 B Tired; and companies CGI, Alpha Phi Omega and Walmart.
Teams of walkers will circle the track throughout the day and night with the event scheduled to end 9 a.m. on Sunday. The sight of dozens of luminaries lining the track after nightfall is humbling.
Visitors and walkers are encouraged to drop by, take a few laps and check out fundraising booths set up by participating teams.
