Former Inderkum High School sprinter Alexis Browner set a personal-record in the 200 meters with a time of 23.86 seconds for American River College in the California Community College Northern California Regional Championships over the weekend at ARC.
Browner advances to the California Community College Athletic Assocociate State Championships Friday and Saturday at College of San Mateo. The sophomore also anchored the 4×100 relay team that set a school-record with a time of 45.98 seconds in a second place finish.

“I am very excited because last year I didn’t do so well,” Browner said. “I am hoping this year at state I can place higher.”

Browner is currently ranked third in the state for community college sprinters in the 200.

ARC sprint coach Michael Reid said Browner has NCAA “D-I speed” and is his fastest women’s sprinter at the community college.

“Out of everything I have accomplished here at American River College,” Reid said. “(Saturday) was probably my proudest night as a sprint coach.”

Browner also committed last week to run track at Waylan Baptist University in Texas.

“I am very happy. I am excited to get away,” Browner said. “I have never been out of California. I can’t wait to experience new things.”
