The Sacramento Police Department today announced the launch of a new smart phone app that can be downloaded from the app store and used on iPhones and other Apple devices.
The SacPD iPhone app was created to provide a centralized location of information in the palm of the hand, according to a press release issued this morning. To download the SacPD Mobile app, go to the Apple Store and search for “SacPD Mobile.”
SacPD Mobile is a free download which allows users to submit an anonymous tip, commend an officer or view the area’s most wanted criminals, missing persons and cold cases.
The app also includes a directory to law enforcement agencies, contact information for School Resources Officers stationed at Inderkum and Natomas high schools, press releases, social media and other web links.
“Our department is committed to communication with the community, and we are continuously searching for new and innovative ways to strengthen our connection with Sacramento residents,” said the press release.
The app is just the latest addition to the department’s public information arsenal which also includes a Facebook page and Twitter accounts. The Sacramento Police Department ranked number 15 of the 50 Most Social Media Friendly Cities of America’s Largest Cities by MPHProgramslist.com.
Sacramento Police said an Android and Blackberry apps are already in the works.
