Sacramento police are investigating the suspicious death of a Natomas man found floating Tuesday evening in an area retention basin.
The man in his 20’s was reportedly fishing with a friend Tuesday, July 2, at the retention basin located across the street from the Granite Point Apartments at 4500 block of Truxel Road off Terracina Drive, police Sgt. Doug Morse said.
The man’s family arrived at the retention basin and discovered him floating in the water, Morse said. The Sacramento Fire Department responded to the scene and called police at about 5:42 p.m., Morse said.
The man, whose identity is not being released at this time, died at the hospital. He reportedly was in good health and could swim, Morse said. There were no obvious signs of trauma, he said.
Police made contact with the victim’s friend and were interviewing him, Morse said.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators remained at the scene after 11 p.m.
The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this incident to contact the dispatch center at (916) 264-5471; callers may remain anonymous.
