Natomas resident Sierra Hersek was named Best Actress at the Visionfest 2013 film festival in New York City on Sunday.
Hersek won for her role in the 2013 film “Happiness” which also received awards for Best Short Film and Best Editing. The film premiered at the Visionfest film festival held June 26-30.
“Happiness” is about a depressed woman who is drowning in the cubicle walls of her monotonous dead-end job. When the woman befriends a coworker, she rethinks who she is and what she wants out of life – with potentially disastrous results. The film was produced by Northern California-based Watermark Films.
Hersek currently stars in “Dark Pool,” an award-winning web series. She has also appeared on stage and in the short film “Fatal Choices” (2013).
