Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep High School’s freshman orientation took place Tuesday evening.
More than 125 incoming freshmen and their families, as well as several teachers and the new student government team were among those who attended the event.
Freshmen received their schedules, the 2013-14 school year calendar, bell schedule and information for the ACE Sports Program.
“I think orientation was very successful,” says Ajit Rekhi, who will be a freshman this year. “I feel more comfortable about high school after meeting the other students and teachers.”
New students and parents also had a chance to meet advisory teachers. There are four new teachers this year; two who will teach math, one who will be an upper division science teacher and an additional law teacher.
During the orientation, Principal Tom Rutten and both high school counselors spoke to students and teachers. Each of the six advisory classes then visited six different information stations.
Each station included a presentation about topics including: grades, academic and behavior expectation, rules and dress code, help and success, and community Campus tours were also given and the night ended with a water balloon game.
Several teachers said they were impressed with the turnout for orientation.
Freshman advsier Annie Jones said, “Just by looking at the number of students who came, I can already tell that this class will be very involved with the school this year.”
NP3 High and Middle Schools first day of instruction is Thursday, August 1.
