The Natomas High Nighthawks fell to Foothill High School 26-0 on Friday night.
In the loss junior fullback Tivon Johnson rushed for 93 yards and caught a six yard pass. Sophomore Elijah Montue rushed for 29 yards and senior Jalen Falls rushed for 20 yards. Junior cornerback DiAngelo Fields was very active on the defensive end, coming up with two interceptions.
Coach Ryan Battle spoke on some key plays which he felt swung the momentum in the game.
“A couple of the bad snaps, defensively not tackling, but that’s football,” he said. “A big play is going to happen on you, but we just have to be better prepared to bounce back from that.”
Despite the loss Battle saw bright spots in the game against Foothill High which could carry over into the Nighthawks’ next match up on the field.
“The past four weeks we didn’t do a good job of gang tackling, so defensively they were doing a great gang tackling (tonight),” Battle said. ““These guys are starting to learn how to play football as a unit.”
The Nighthawks have a bye next week and will return to action on Oct. 11 when they face off at home against Woodland High School.
Said Battle, “It takes time to build a program and it takes time to build a winning team.”
