The Inderkum High School Marching Band and Color Guard have much to celebrate following a weekend win at the Northern California Band Association Championships.

Thirty bands battled it out to be crowned the best in northern California at the competition held Nov. 16 at Lincoln High School in Stockton.

The Inderkum music program racked up awards at their final competition of the season winning: 3rd Place Mace Division – Drum Major; 3rd Place Division B Concert – Wind Ensemble; 3rd Place Percussion – Drumline; 1st Place Division 5A – Auxiliary (Color Guard); 1st Place Division 5A – Parade (Marching Band).

Inderkum’s final parade score was 92.15 out of 100 possible points – a record-breaking score for the school’s music program. This is the third year the school participated in marching competitions.

Overall, Inderkum had the second-best performance out of the 30 marching bands competing on the street this past weekend. The Tigers won first place in the highest division, and were only 0.6 points shy of winning the Grand Sweepstakes award which went to Irvington High School.

New Northern California Band Association rankings were released after the competition. Inderkum Marching Band now ranks No. 5 in Northern California, from Truckee to Bakersfield. Inderkum’s band also broke through the top 25 this year and now ranks No. 17 in the state.

The school’s music department is now gearing up for the winter season.
