Sacramento police today arrested a young man for shooting arrows onto an elementary school campus in Natomas.
At about 12:40 p.m. today, Jan. 22 police received a call that multiple arrows had been shot onto the American Lakes Elementary School campus at 2800 Stonecreek Drive.
“We contacted the individual right away,” police spokesperson Officer Doug Morse said. “Luckily, they didn’t strike anyone or any building and there’s no indication this individual intended for the arrows to go onto the campus.”
Police said it appears the arrows were shot from a backyard, through some trees and landed on school grounds. Parents reported the school was temporarily place on lockdown during the incident.
“He didn’t intend for them to go that far, but his actions were so negligent, it could have caused some injury,” Morse said.
The suspect, described as a male in his late teens, was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon – likely to cause injury.
No injuries were sustained during the incident, Morse said.
