The Sacramento Police Department seeks information about a fatal vehicle collision yesterday morning in Natomas.

At about 6:12 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, police officers responded to a report of single-care collision in the area of Duckhorn Drive and Far Niente Way. Police said their investigation determined that the driver of a 1997 Acura Integra failed to negotiate a curve on Duckhorn Drive, the car left the roadway and collided with a street light pole. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, police said.

The driver, a male in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The only other occupant of the car, fatally injured as a result of the collision, was identified today by the Sacramento County Coroner as David Corona, 18.

Major Collision Investigation Unit Detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. Police said they believe a second vehicle may have been traveling behind the Acura and possibly witnessed the accident. The witness vehicle was described as being a white Toyota Corolla; at this time police do not think the vehicle was involved in the crash.

Detectives are asking the occupant or occupants of the Toyota Corolla, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision on Tuesday, to please contact the Sacramento Police Department dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or M.C.I.U. Detective James Anderson directly at (916) 808-3776.
