A temporary shift of the southbound traffic lanes of State Highway 99 at Riego Road is planned this week due to overnight bridge work, the California Department of Transportation announced today.
Crews are scheduled to start closing various southbound and northbound lanes on Highway 99 at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22. Southbound motorists will be detoured onto one lane on the northbound side of the highway until about 5 a.m. The same southbound detour is scheduled for the same time period on Thursday and Friday.
Caltrans said a contractor is scheduled to install a series of steel bridge girders for a new interchange overpass. Last month, crews placed girders over the northbound lanes.
The bridge work is part of a $31 million project to construct a full interchange at Highway 99 and Riego Road.
