SUTTER COUNTY – The closure of the northbound State Highway 99 exit to Riego Road will be extended through Monday, Oct. 27 due to construction delays, the Department of Transportation announced today.
The closure originally was scheduled to end next week. Caltrans said construction crews will need more time to complete construction of the new highway ramps and advises motorists to follow the designated detour route through Howsley Road or use alternate routes during the closure. Motorists traveling on west Riego Road will continue to be detoured to Power Line Road and then Elverta Road to get onto Highway 99.
Unexpected weather or other events may prolong or cause the work on the new $31 million interchange to be rescheduled.
