A vigil in Natomas for the suspect in yesterday’s carjacking turned violent tonight.

Sacramento Police responded to the Regency Park neighborhood on a report of shots fired at about 9:45 p.m. near Bridgecross Way. Vehicles were also reported spinning donuts in the street nearby by witnesses.

At about 7:30 p.m. a large crowd began gathering in front of the home where a candlelight vigil was being held for carjacking suspect Jose Roberto Leon, 22, who died during a standoff with law enforcement. Leon was a suspect in an officer-involved shooting following a traffic stop by CHP in Rio Linda on Tuesday.

Police have blocked off several roadways into the Regency Park neighborhood of Natomas.

A crowd of about 100 people had gathered in front of the home on Bridgecross is now dispersing.

No injuries were reported.
