Sacramento Police now hold weekly office hours at the Natomas Police & Community Resource Center.

According to Lt. Charles Husted, a patrol officer will be at the center 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Thursday to answer questions, sign off fix-it tickets and more.

Opened in January 2009, the Natomas Police & Community Resource Centeris meant to support both the Sacramento Police Dept. and its officers as well as the Natomas community.

The center is almost entirely staffed by volunteers, with representatives from city and county agencies occasionally holding office hours.

Volunteers at the center are trained to help area residents with concerns about potential criminal activity, victims of a crime in need of assistance, and those with family problems who do not know which governmental agency can assist them.

Services provided at the center include filing online police reports, code enforcement issues, crime/safety tips, city resources, community events, brochures and notices. Community associations and groups may also use the center to hold meetings.

Some volunteers are also Volunteers in Police Service program members which enables them to sign off on fix-it tickets such as expired tags/registration, tinted windows, tail/head lights not working. (They cannot sign off on insurance issues).

The Natomas Police & Community Resource Center is located at 2701 Del Paso Road, in Suite 140, (Safeway shopping center). A sign hangs in the window if a VIPS member is on duty.

Volunteers are always welcome. For more information, contact Molly Fling at [email protected] or call the center at (916) 419-6431.
