City officials will unveil a new bike and multi-use trail in Natomas at a grand opening ceremony on Wednesday.
Completion of the bike path is the last portion of a larger, four-mile project that will connect Elkhorn Boulevard to Airport Road.
The project is meant to improve overall connectivity within the region and provide a recreational opportunity for Natomas residents.
Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby, North Natomas Transportation Management Association president Derek Chernow and Assemblyman Kevin McCarty are expected to be on hand for the bike trail’s unveiling 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21. The bike trail starts next to California Family Fitness.
Those who attend the trail’s opening will have the opportunity to join the inaugural bike ride after the ceremony.
The trail currently does not have a name and attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas to the event.
Very nice to see some improvements in the bike trail system in Natomas. Hopefully a crossing for Truxel is in the near future as Truxel currently severs the bike trail that runs along that canal next to California Family Fitness.
