A new, sit-down eatery is already slated to go into the former’s Mimi’s Cafe location in Natomas.

Signs posted on the the 3511 North Freeway Boulevard property tout the coming of a new Casa Ramos Mexican Restaurant.

A Casa Ramos representative said the target date to open is Feb. 1, 2016.

Mimi’s Cafe closed earlier this month on Dec. 20, citing an increase in rent, however Sacramento County Assessor records show restaurant chain owner SWH Corp sold the property in September to a Woodland-based LLC.

That there are already plans for an eatery to move into the 7,500 square-foot location is good news for Natomas where the former Johnny Carino’s restaurant has remained vacant for more than a year on Truxel Road.

The Casa Ramos menu features authentic Mexican cuisine including family recipes. Selections include traditional fare as well as vegetarian dishes, and a children’s menu.

Founder Marco Ramos opened his first restaurant in 1997 in Yreka, California. The Casa Ramos chain of Mexican restuarants now has 13 locations throughout Northern California including Placerville, Lincoln, Folsom, Rancho Cordova and El Dorado Hills.

Thanks for the tip, N.K.V.!
