A long-awaited ladder fire truck went into service Saturday at Fire Station No. 43 in Natomas.
Efforts to identify funding for the equipment and staff date back to budget discussions which started in 2013.
“This was a hard fought victory for our community which was accomplished with help from many Natomas leaders and residents,” reads a post on city Councilmember Angelique Ashby’s website. Ashby represents District One where Fire Station No. 43 is located.
According to Ashby’s website, the fire ladder truck also represents the end to brown outs in the City of Sacramento.
“With the addition of Truck 43, the Sacramento Fire Department will be better equipped to respond to hazardous situations in a shorter amount of time,” it reads.
Fire Station 43 opened in 2011 and operated with a Grass Rig, an Ambulance, an Engine prior to the addition of the Truck on Jan. 9, 2016.
