The Norwood Avenue on-ramp to westbound Interstate 80 will be closed for 22-days for continued construction work in North Sacramento starting 10 p.m. Friday, January 22.
The original closure was delayed because five consecutive days of clear weather are needed to establish base infrastructure.
The California Department of Transportation has set up a detour route for motorists wanting to get onto westbound I-80.
Caltrans urges motorists to plan for additional travel time or to use alternate routes. Local cross streets remain open for northbound and southbound directions.
The roadwork is part of the ongoing “80 Across the Top” project that covers approximately 10 miles from the Sacramento River to Watt Avenue. westbound and eastbound motorists also can expect right lane and shoulder restrictions with most work behind k-rail.
Local residents may experience nighttime construction noise including jack hammer type and commercial truck beeping.
