The Sacramento Public Library has launched curbside pickup of library materials on hold at select locations and by appointment only.
The pilot program is currently available only at Sylvan Oaks Library and Belle Cooledge Library branches Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Library materials currently cannot be transferred from a non-curbside location to a curbside location.
According to the Sacramento Library’s website, scheduled curbside service will be expanded to more branches in phases. At press time, it was not known when the service would be available at the North Natomas Library or South Natomas Library branches.
Sacramento Public Library patrons who have an item on hold will be notified by email or phone when their item on hold is available for pickup. Upon notification, the patron will schedule a pickup time.
At scheduled pickup time, the patron will park curbside, and retrieve their items at the designated curbside pickup area at the branch. Items will be checked-out to patrons in advance and staged in a bag.
Material picked up curbside will be checked out to patrons for six weeks and overdue fines will not apply to these materials.
Patrons can also return items to these branches during hours of operations.
Library branches will be employing physical distancing and public health recommendations operations for employees and patrons. This includes placing all returned items in quarantine for 72 hours as well as providing items in a bag for curbside pick-up to reduce contact.
Library staff will also be provided with personal protective equipment for their protection. All of re-opening plans will be reviewed by the County Department of Public Health.
