The SAFE Credit Union branch in Natomas will be moving to a larger space in the coming months.
According to John Jaeger, AVP of Retail Branch Administration, plans are to relocate the credit union’s Natomas banking operations from a business park to the Natomas Town Center one mile away. The retail center includes Safeway, Rite Aid, restaurants and services.
“We are planning to move the branch in the third quarter of this year,” said Jaeger, adding that the move will likely take place between July and September.
Work is currently underway on the 4,000 square-foot space previously occupied by Umpqua Bank for several years. The spot has been empty since Umpqua Bank closed in 2017.
City records show that remodel work at the site includes mechanical, electrical, plumbing, re-configuring the interior layout, exterior storefront modifications and fire protection as well as exterior accessibility upgrades. Current plans include two walk-up ATMs.
“… we will be making interior updates to represent our new branch design and functions,” said Jaeger. “A great example of this is our new Land Park branch we opened in May 2020.”
According to Jaeger, the Natomas branch is one of SAFE’s busiest.
“We serve many member of the Natomas community,” he said. “Over the years we have received feedback from members about parking struggles and ease of access issues.”
The new location, said Jaeger, is meant to improve the credit union members’ access to banking and reduce parking issues. Being situated in a shopping center will also increase SAFE’s visibility in the community, he added.
“We are excited to be a part of the Natomas community and look forward to serving our existing and new members at our new location later this year,” said Jaeger.
SAFE Credit Union is currently located at 2200 Del Paso Road. It will be moving to 2761 Del Paso Road, Suite 110.
