Panera Bread is closing one of its cafes in Natomas before the end of this month.
Effective Jan. 26, Panera in the Natomas Town Center on Del Paso Road will close, according to a sign posted on the door.
“To Our Valued Guests and Friends: We are sorry that as of 1/26/21, we will no longer be able to serve you from this location,” reads the sign.
The sign directs customers to the Panera located in the Promenade at Sacramento Gateway shopping center at 3571 North Freeway Boulevard, in Suite 1100.
A manager said she was not authorized to speak about the closure, but one source told The Natomas Buzz that employees were notified of the upcoming closure during a team meeting held earlier this week on Tuesday, Jan. 12. It was not clear whether employees would be offered positions at other cafes in the area.
The 4,426 square foot Panera restaurant is an original Natomas Town Center tenant, built in 2005. The fast casual, bakery eatery features both indoor seating and a large outdoor patio.
Natomas Town Center is part of the Lewis-developed Creekside Natomas Master Planned Community which includes 450-unit adjacent apartments.
Panera Bread also has two other Sacramento restaurants on Howe Avenue and on Delta Shores Circle, as well as cafes in Citrus Heights, Davis, Elk Grove, Folsom, Lodi, Rocklin, Roseville, Rancho Cordova and Yuba City.
Panera Bread Co. is a restaurant chain with more than 2,000 locations in the United States and Canada headquartered in Missouri.
