Sacramento Police officers trained for active shooter and hostage situations Wednesday at Inderkum High School in Natomas.
“This training better allows them to be prepared to serve our schools and students in case of an actual emergency,” Mayor Pro Tem Angelique Ashby posted on Facebook.
About a dozen officers participated in the six-hour safety drills which took place both inside the school and on the adjacent grounds.
The training exercises are meant to provide officers who have not been inside schools with extra training for scenarios, such as an active shooter.
Both Ashby and the Natomas Unified School District posted on social media prior to the safety drills to alert the community of the planned police activity and confirm that there was “no emergency.”
