More than 30 volunteers participated in a Gardenland-Northgate community cleanup Saturday in Natomas.
Cleanup organizer Roberto Ramirez estimated volunteers filled about 60 large garbage bags with garbage collected along the Northgate Boulevard corridor. Miscellaneous other items, such as tires and plastic truck bed liners were also collected.
“I couldn’t do these cleanups by myself,” said Ramirez, who has organized cleanups along. “Saturday was a great example, showing how strong this community is when you ask them for help.”
Volunteers from community groups Gardenland Proud, the Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association, Love Natomas and others who live in the area participated in the cleanup event. Councilmember Jeff Harris’s office provided snacks, waters, hand sanitizers and a city tool trailer as well as coordinated trash pickup after the event with the city’s Recycling and Solid Waste Department.
The Sacramento River Property Owners Association is planning a cleanup along Garden Highway on Saturday, August 21. Learn More
