Topgolf will open its first facility in Sacramento with a new, 58,000 square-foot venue located in south Natomas, Mayor Pro Tem Karina Talamantes announced this morning on social media.

The new sports entertainment complex is expected to create more than 250 new jobs and generate approximately $15 million in economic growth for the community.

“We are excited to share that Topgolf has chosen Natomas as its first location in Sacramento,” Talamantes told The Natomas Buzz.

“Over the years, the community has expressed a strong desire for more family-friendly entertainment options available on weekends and throughout the week, ideally within walking distance from home,” she added. “Topgolf will offer a great venue for families, friends, and coworkers, combining friendly competition with relaxed fun.”

Topgolf venues offer a mix of entertainment and dining. Guests hit golf balls at giant targets, which are tracked for real-time feedback and scoring. Golfing bays are equipped with cooling fans for the summer and heaters for the winter. Food and drinks will also be available.

The planned two-story venue will feature 80 bays and is expected to welcome over 250,000 visitors yearly. Talamantes said the location will be disclosed at a community open house set for next week.

“We invite you to an open house on Wednesday, August 21, to learn more about the project,” she said. “This will be an opportunity to provide feedback, ask questions, and view the renderings of the future facility.”

According to Talamantes, the project has been several years in the making, starting when she was chief-of-staff to Senator Angelique Ashby, who sat on the Sacramento City Council at the time. Sources confirmed Topgolf had eyed a location along Interstate 5 in Natomas.

“It is important for Topgolf to hear from neighbors for their planning application to the City of Sacramento,” Talamantes said. “We look forward to your participation and feedback.”

Topgolf has locations Roseville, San Francisco and San Jose.
